Do you hear your Chamberlain motor running but the chain is not lifting your door? It's probably your gear. To verify this, remove cover off of motor head and and if you see white shavings, the gear is your problem. The gear is only for 1984-current Chamberlain manufactured openers such as Liftmaster, Sears, Chamberlain. Pre- 1984 gears are not manufactured anymore. Manufacture date can be found on the motor head under the light cover. The gear has 32 teeth with an outside diameter of 2 3/4" and bore size of 1/2". If you do not lubricate each tooth of the new gear, the new gear can shred within days. If you need assistance in installing gear, please email Sanford and Son?.
